Following the success of our updated Survival Guide for Mining Families, we're delighted to launch the second edition of our ever-popular Working Away Guide...
Mining Family Matters co-creator Alicia Ranford says the Working Away Guide has been updated to provide comprehensive advice on boosting emotional resilience for workers – whether they're at home or at work.
"The guide still offers practical strategies for maintaining strong relationships and keeping families happy – it's just been given an extra boost with new advice on mental wellbeing," she says.
"It's fantastic that Australian companies are increasingly focused on the mental health of their workers, and we wanted to reflect that in the Working Away Guide.
"Working away can undoubtedly place additional pressure on relationships and parenting, but it can also impact on general physical and mental health – our guides aim to help workers and families overcome the challenges but also to reinforce that workers aren't alone if they find the lifestyle tough sometimes."
The updated, 32-page guide is recommended for use as an induction tool for new employees and also to reinforce support for existing workers – and importantly it's relevant for workers and families in any industry. Chapters in the second edition include:
- Identifying stress and depression
- Overcoming stress, anxiety and sadness
- Boosting your workplace resilience
- Knowing your mental health first aid
- Tackling loneliness when you're apart
- Raising happy children
- House rules for a happy home
- Making your money work
- Parenting on the same page
