New industry website spells out what's possible for school leavers and graduates
If you're at school or university and keen to work in natural resources, a new website called People for the Future is worth checking out.
It's designed to spell out exactly what different roles entail in mining and resources, across all employment areas from entry/operator to trades/tech and professional.
Click on 'accounts clerk', for example, and the website spells out exactly what an accounts clerk does in a mining and resources company, including the duties you'll be required to perform and personal attributes/skills required. There's also a salary range listed for each role and a career pathway to show you what's possible if you work your way up the industry ladder.
Funded by the Minerals Council of Australia, the Queensland Resources Council and the Chamber of Minerals and Energy of WA, the not-for-profit website also spells out how to get your foot in the door through scholarships, vacation work, graduate programs and apprenticeships.
