Here's some great news for West Australian mining employees and regional residents who can't get to Perth for the City2Surf fun run.
Thanks to Kinetic Health and event partner NIB health funds, the Mining City2Surf is coming to you.
To participate, all you need to do is walk or run 4km or 12km anytime in August. You'll feel part of the action and you'll also help to raise funds for the Activ Foundation, which has been providing services and support (including accommodation, employment and training opportunities) to people with disabilities since 1951.
In the past two years, hundreds of people have taken part on mine sites, rigs and in regional communities across the state - making this the biggest community event in Western Australia.
Employees from companies including Rio Tinto, Fortescue Metals and Mt Gibson Mining have been part of the action, in regional towns such as Karratha, Port Hedland and Wickham.
Participants in the Mining City2Surf are asked to donate $10 for the Activ Foundation. Then then receive a Mining City2Surf gift pack including a medal, sun visor and certificate, and go in the draw to win cash prizes worth $15,000. Prizes include:
- Best photo $500
- Best dressed $500
- Largest team $2000
- 1-50 participants - longest distance $4000
- 51-100 participants - longest distance $4000
- 101+ participants - longest distance $4000
