families.

Creative Activation is looking for mystery shoppers in many of Australia's key mining towns. Here we find out a little more about the company and the opportunities abounding in mining towns.

Q:Tell us about Creative Activation and the services you provide.

A: Creative Activation create, execute and measure brand and retail strategies. Our 'Measure' division is dedicated to being an industry leader in customer experience. We partner with retail brands to ensure their customers receive an outstanding customer experience when in store. We deliver this through our mystery shopping and auditing programs. Mystery shopping involves visiting a retailer as a typical customer and reporting back on the quality of service and customer experience you receive in store, whereas auditing focuses on cleanliness, stock levels and promotional compliance in store.

Q: What opportunities exist in mining regions?

A: A great deal of our clients have stores in regional and remote locations throughout Australia and they want all their stores to provide the best customer service, whether it be fast checkout times or excellent product knowledge. The mining boom has meant that many retailers are expanding their network and opening new stores to meet the growth of many of these areas. As a result, this has meant that there is also more work available for our team of mystery shoppers and auditors.

Other ideas for business-minded mums:

Q: Why do you think it would suit mining wives and partners?

A: Mystery shopping work is quite flexible. Not only do you select when you work, but also the areas in which you work. This means that when you move, you can continue to mystery shop. It is such a flexible role that you can fit it in around other work and family commitments too. It also provides you with the opportunity to play an active (albeit secretive) role in the community. Our clients want to ensure that they are providing the best customer experience, the feedback they receive from our mystery shopping reports enables them to be able to do this. Mystery Shopping ensures that your community is receiving the same level of service and products that you would receive in any other town in Australia.

Q: What does the job involve?

A: Mystery shopping involves visiting a retailer as a normal customer and reporting back on your observations of the service, cleanliness, compliance and overall 'customer experience'. Each shopper has their own profile through which they can select the available jobs in their local area. To make sure that you have a successful mystery shopping experience we provide you with a questionnaire and feedback form that you read through before each visit to ensure that you know exactly what you need to look for when in-store. Afterwards you simply log back into your profile portal and upload your results.

Q: Are you looking for a particular type of person?

A: Mystery shoppers are people from all different backgrounds. No formal skills are necessary, although a good eye for detail, reliability, good memory recall and an ability to interact with store staff is key. Because shoppers manage their own workload, you also need good organisation skills and the ability to manage your own schedule.

Q: What are the work hours and are they flexible?

A: Many of our current mystery shoppers pick up mystery shopping jobs that they can fit in around work, family and study commitments. Visits generally take between 15-30 minutes to complete. We don't put a cap on the number of jobs you pick up so if there are 10 jobs you are available to complete, we're happy for you to accept them! We also understand that there may be weeks where you can't mystery shop due to other commitments and that's fine too. The number of available jobs each month depends on your availability and the locations in which you have nominated to work. In remote regional areas, it is likely that we will have jobs available some months however there may be some months when jobs are fewer. This is because our clients may want a different area surveyed from one month to the next.

Q: Is it suitable if you have young children?

A: Unfortunately, most of our visits do need to be completed independently so you can't take children with you. But the visits are on different days and at a range of times so there is the opportunity to pick up visits while the kids are at school or over the weekends.

Q: Where are you looking for employees?

A: Creative Activation conducts mystery shopping across metro, regional, and remote areas of Australia. So whether you live in Sydney CBD or Roxby Downs, we have mystery shopping work available. Our regional and remote mystery shopping team is always looking for more shoppers in:
